In his research, plant biologist Michael Raissig addresses one of the most urgent question of our age. "In a world in which the population doubles by 2050, and the climate changes drastically, every insight into plants and their development is indispensible in order to secure the nourishment of the world's population today and in the future", says Raissig.
Through his research he has come significantly closer to understanding the phenomena of genomic imprinting, which plays a role in the reproduction of plants as well as mammals.
Michael Raissig completed his dissertation at the Institute of Plant Biology of the University of Zurich, supervised by Prof. Dr. Ueli Grossniklaus. Since 2014 he is conducting research at Stanford University.
