Project management for postdocs

Content Your ongoing or upcoming projects are challenging and you would like to learn how to cope with complex research projects? In this course we will polish up your project management knowledge on initiating, planning and controlling a project. Additionally, you will learn how to conceive, analyze and master difficult project situations by applying project management tools. Thereby, we will look at some of the most challenging issues: Organizing the team work. Leading a project team. Dealing with delayed or insufficient results. Managing change in the project. Dealing with varying expectations of different stakeholders. The course will be oriented on your current project practice and we will take up your questions. Prior to the course, you will be asked to describe a project situation and the problems or questions that you are facing with it.
Learning objectives At the end of the course, participants will know
  • how to apply project management to complex research projects
  • how to analyze and manage the risks and the stakeholders
  • how to set up a project organization and lead a project team
  • how to plan and conduct a project kick off workshop
  • how to monitor and control progress and manage change
  • how to analyze and solve some of your current project issues
