Application for the LERU Doctoral Summer School 2019

General information

The LERU Doctoral Summer School lasts one week and is organized at one of the member universities of LERU. The Graduate Campus covers the participation fee (including accommodation) and travel expenses (Economy) of the selected UZH participants.

LERU Doctoral Summer School 2019: “Building Research Capacity and a Collaborative Global Community"

The topic of the LERU Doctoral Summer School 2019 is “Building Research Capacity and a Collaborative Global Community". The School is organized by the University of Edinburgh and will take place from 15-19 July 2019.

Participant requirements

Candidates for the summer school should be well advanced in their doctoral project and keenly motivated to work on the topic of the summer school. Candidates must be available for the entire duration of the summer school, and must be prepared to participate in all activities. All sessions will be conducted in English, and therefore fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.

Please send your complete application in one single PDF file and in English no later than 1 March 2019 to Dr. Birte Lembke (E-mail).


Please include the following documents in your application:

  • Letter of motivation (see below)
  • CV
  • Title of your research project and name of your main supervisor(s)
  • Status of your dissertation project
  • Copy of your student card

Your letter of motivation should explain the following points: a) your interest for the topic of the summer school, b) what makes you a suitable representative of the University of Zurich.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
