On the trail of the justice system: Tril
In this three-part series, the three Science Trails follow different stages of the Swiss justice system: custody in a prison (May 14), a court hearing (May 21) and police investigative work (August 20).
How does a court hearing proceed? Which actors are involved and what is their role? What aspects are dealt with with a view to reaching a verdict? Attending a court hearing of the Zurich District Court offers the opportunity to gain an insight into the practical application of the law.
In the first session, a trial on multiple simple assault is attended. During the sentencing break, there is time to discuss the trial with the court clerk Sarah Leins and learn more about the Swiss justice system and the Zurich District Court.
