The course familiarizes participants with the legal aspects of the publishing process and their rights as authors. Participants learn about the concept of copyright, how to give rights to others to reuse their work (incl. licenses), how to engage with publishers regarding the publishing contract and how to retain their rights for self-archiving. Participants are invited to bring along an example of one of their publishing contracts for discussion.
Course objectives

After this course, participants are able to:

  • understand the concept of copyright, author rights and licenses
  • choose licenses for self-archiving
  • find out about their rights for self-archiving
